No, they were a pretty quiet crowd.

The most disturbing part was the lack of 49er jerseys around this year. I hope it is because it was announced we are going to play next year that 49er fans might have stayed away but I saw far less RED this year than last  ??? :(

That is odd considering the hype surrounding the team since H turned it around...

Can't wait to see your pictures!

We didn't go to the tailgate party at Trafalgar Square on Saturday and the game was a letdown (as usual :()

I don't know if it would have been different if the game had been competitive but for a crowd of 84,004 this was an unusually silent game. Loads of people - event Patriot fans - left the stadium at halftime  ???

You don't feel "the hype" over here. The fans are there but the everyday talk is still about soccer  ::)

I have very few pics from the game (except a few cheerleader pics)

I think the crowds next year will be more concentrated as "there is something to choose from" so if you have any interest in either matchup you are more likely to go there, so Vikings (plenty this year) and Steeler (not many) will probably be few and far apart next October......

NFL experience still a puzzling, exciting one for Londoners

Sunday's game sold out, and most of the 84,000 fans appeared to be confused, bemused and ultimately enthused. There seemed to be collective puzzlement over the (many) pass interference penalties, the concept of reviewing calls and especially the arrhythmic pacing, as there are no commercial breaks (and, for that matter, few stops in play) in soccer. And there was a sense that the presentational aids -- the "Hip Hop Hooray," the air-canoning of t-shirts, the cheerleaders -- were fun, but took away from the action.

The philistines who crack on soccer because of the paucity of scoring had a good laugh today. Think Manchester United scoring two goals in the first 12 minutes of their game Sunday was a heavy offensive output?

What the NFL needs to do imo is bring some marquee matchups to Wembley. 49ers vs. Giants, Packers vs. Bears, Cowboýs-49ers, Jets-Patriots, Ravens-Steelers, Giants-Cowboys and so on. Jags-49ers looks like another blow-out.

Having said that, I think the Saints-Chargers and niners-Broncos were pretty good games.

Do they not do that because they do not want to pull 2 hugely popular teams out of the country at the same time ie. 49ers vs Giants, Ravens vs Steelers?

I don't think either of this marquee matchups willl happen?  Neither Ravens nor Steelers would ever accept "home field" in London in that division rivalry?

I think we'll continue to see AFC v NFC for a good time to come.....

If that were indeed the case Grid., might the Commish. get involved and give them incentive to make that trip ie. maybe each team and it's players get a bonus or maybe an added late round draft pick?  Just ideas.

It sure would benefit the league to see for Ex. Ravens vs Steelers (always great games) or 49ers vs Cow-Gurls.......

I don't think you could move a marquee matchup like Ravens-Steelers, Packers-Bears without creating more frustration with local fan bases than you can gain abroad. I could not imagine watching one of these matchups without a committed (hostile) crowd and while I think Europeans are continously underestimated concerning the knowledge and passion for the game it is hard for a Patriots or Vikings fan to commit themselves to that degree........

IMO The league will be better off for continuing the current AFC v NFC format but looking for more even matchups....

I agree but can you imagine if that stadium was filled to capacity with fans of both teams ie. Packers, Vikes, Ravens, Steelers, NINERS, Cowboys?

That would be an event.

Thing is though prob. only 1/3 would be the actual usa fans from those cities.

The rest would be Europeans so it would be much less raucous!

Oh, it was  :)

No, we did not take part in the official tailgate party and missed the cheerleader performances there. You'll have to wait until next year....

Single game club tickets became available last week, via nfl
All sideline tickets were gone though so we got ours via a travelagent. Expensive but worth it :)

It is fairly exspensive I agree but I really wanted sideline tickets at the Club level this time and this was the only way to get that - as far as I know at least.

We're staying two nights this time and at the same hotel we used this year for the trip to Chelsea and Stamford Bridge. I hope there's something NFL/49ers related going on the day before the game. I want to meet up with some cheerleaders too!!

Tickets bought!

Managed to get a pair of Upper Sideline (first 20 rows) ones.

The guys I normally go with weren't up for watching a blowout, so we also got tickets to the Vikings-Steelers game.  Just need to sort the travel and accommodation now.

I got 6 tickets in block 218, row 14, seats 109-104  :)

I have confirmations from several 49er fans on facebook so I know block 215, 217 will be crowded by 9er fans and Cains (a former 'Diser) will be in 518 (the level above 218)
